5 Reasons We're Excited About Alteryx 10.5

by Kayle Simpson, on May 17, 2016

You may or may not know this already, but we love Alteryx! We love Alteryx so much that we're partnered with them, and we're hosting the first Portland, Maine Alteryx Use Group (which you can sign up for here!) Now, more than ever, is a great time to hop on the Alteryx train with the recent 10.5 update. Why? Let us show you!

1. Major UI Updates

As powerful as an application may be, it's simply not useful without a good user interface. Usability upgrades include multiple upgrades to the Results window, like a more legible highlight on selected cells. They've also moved tool metadata and messages to the Results window, and when you have the Results window closed, running a workflow or clicking on an anchor will reopen it automatically.

2. Expanded Data Platform Support

While Alteryx already has an impressive amount of data platforms supported, they've gone and made it even better by now supporting:

  • Amazon Aurora
  • Exasol
  • Hive
  • Microsoft Azure SQL Data Warehouse

3. Google Sheets

Google Sheets is easily the most accessible data organization app, since all you need is a Google account to use it. This opens up so many possibilities for small businesses who use Google Drive as their primary business management toolset.

4. Alteryx Web Data Connector for Tableau

While we love Alteryx very much at Arkatechture, the data tool is second only to Tableau. Alteryx and Tableau work so well together already, but Alteryx has made it even better! This Web Data Connector allows you to use an Alteryx application as a web data source in Tableau - cool, right? However, you'll need Alteryx Server to use the tool.

5. Workflow Credentials

This is another update specific to Alteryx Server, but it's still notable and very useful. Alteryx Administrators and Artisans can now set up credentials to access workflows within their Gallery.
